The Tray

Week 4 : The tray
Creating a tray you would need two pieces of wood, a metal sheet and laser cut template with different radius. Choose a radius from the template and sand the wooden blocks in a certain radius.

My partner and I have used two different radius on each sides and marked with non permanent marker. Then trim the edges leaving 2mm offset from the line.

Clamp the metal sheet in-between the two wooden blocks

Start hammering down the metal sheet gently without a rush from the middle.

The metal will start to fold and crinkle, where this is the point to make sure the lines don't scaffold too much as it would be extremely hard to unfold them back.

Release the metal from the wooden templates and check on how much the corners have crinkled.
And need to start stretching the corners by hammering them back from inside.

The lines will begin to unfold as the metals is getting stretched, repeat the process the shape the corners again by placing back wooden blocks inside and hammer.

Finished tray and combined with my partner's tray

I have made a trial and error of ended up with three trays.
